Obsessed

For over a week I have been obsessed with the weather. I feel that is only rightfully so. But Mother Nature has been scaring me and threatening to rain on my parade, literally. I was ok with 30% chance rain, but got very weary when it doubled within 6 hours last week. Then, after I had done research in finding a tent and chairs, the chance of rain diminished to 0%. Go figure. Since last week this number has gone up and down so many times you would have thought it was on a roller coaster, geez. Yesterday's numbers did me in. As of 2 pm, it was reported with a 70% chance with rain scheduled every hour for Saturday. By last night, it was report that every hour was sunny. Grrrr. I'm too young to have a heart attack. But I am more pleased with the latest conditions, and pray that it will remain. I know my 6 year old cousin is. Thanks Harris!

Overwhelmed

This is how I am feeling. It's the combination of work and the wedding and now the head coach of cheerleading quitting. For some reason the spring flipped a switch on in my kids heads and now they are acting like I haven't given them any sense all year. They are countlessly being rude to each other, calling each other names, and telling others to shut up. I've had it. They have even gotten out of their chairs and presented themselves for a fight. Before I would get in between them whether they were "playin" or not. But now, I told them "Go ahead. Hit each other. The sooner you get it done, the faster your out of here in cuffs and I won't have to deal with you for the rest of the year." They stare at me astonished. It works for a day or two. But not for the whole week, and certainly not enough before a section quiz. I have a bunch of appointments running for the wedding. I think we have 43 days left. Crunch time. And my friend is now going back to school and can't do cheerleading. So I'm the head coach. Nuts. I have tryouts next week and these girls and one guy want to do so many things. I know no sooner do I set it up, they will back out. Ahh... patience, I need patience.

Dress

It fits. It fits. It fits.

6 weeks ago my hips were a tad too big for my dress. My dress zipped up alright but you could see a tiny stretch. Well Keith and I have been running and we both can run over a mile straight. I am happy to say the dress looks the best it ever has. I have my pre-bridal portraits this Monday with my hair and makeup trials too. Right now the dress is living in the closet. Keith asked for a little reminder to let him know NOT to go in there. Do you think I did a good job?Note: 53 days to the wedding. 117 replied yes, 5 no = 60% coming.

Getting a new...

Kitchen?

We went to Lowe's tonight and designed a kitchen to replace the one we have now. This is the one room Keith hasn't touched in the house during the renovations (ok the upstairs bathroom too). After the shower, we have tons of stuff that will live in their boxes if we do not add more cabinets. More than likely we will be ordering before our trip to DE this weekend with it arriving in 6 weeks. So for two weeks before the wedding we will be living out of the laundry room. But I doubt it will be that big of a deal. Esp if Keith's brother is home during that time because his mom will be cooking for more anyway. Ahh. I won't have to make popcorn in the dryer, haha sike.

Speaking of the shower, it went very nicely. I feel totally dazed though. Open card, give card to bridesmaid, give bow to other bridesmaid, give trash to cousin, lift and show, get new present from another bridesmaid and repeat. We got a lot of good things. I think I did pretty well opening. I had 30 minutes to spare after opening all the presents and cards. From what I heard though all the ladies had a good time. I heard my aunt said it was the nicest shower she has ever been to. Awesome! I just really hope the wedding isn't so much of a daze.

Guest List Annoyance

As our guests RSVP, I record their attendance in an excel spreadsheet. Yes, I am that organized. And since I am a math teacher, I have many formulas running. Today we had more responses... and there is a trend happening, yet again I fear. Of our 65 guests attending, 12 are for me, the remaining are for Keith. However, the guest list was set up nearly 50/50. I am fearing that my people are not coming (and if your are from out of state, trust me I understand. I talking about the ones who live with in 15 miles). I fear this because it seems like that is what always happens. I have a gathering for both sides, only his side attends. Other gatherings are organized for just my side, it gets cancelled or many do not show. It sucks. How are you to stay a family when the members refuse to see each other. Not to mention, it's a wedding! I guess I'm just tired of trying to be there for others and they are not for me. I know Keith's side favors me so it's not like I'm alone, but it would be nice to be represented.

Big Example: My birthday was this weekend- I spent it with his family. Sure my mom, dad, and brother called (my sister sent a card and texted me and my Aunt Sandie sent a lovely card) but no one else of my side did anything. No one else even tried to make plans. Thanks.

April Updates

  • Keith's beard is really long. He has to wear a beard net at work, you know a hair net for his beard. If I stick my finger in it, the hair goes past my first knuckle.
  • Speaking of knuckles, Keith is trying to get me to stop cracking. Not gonna work.
  • I've been going to the Chiropractor. From wearing high heels too much I've managed to misplace my 5th lumbar. The best part... the doctor says no house work or yard work. I cheat and still do things here and there.
  • Tuxes for the wedding are selected. We took my dad today to be measured. I had a slight evil enjoyment out of it. The last time he wore anything formal was at his wedding, in 1980.
  • Keith has been working in the city so he has been taking the train in. This week he found a car parked on his bumper and then the next day he had foot long scratch. He has one more payment until he owns it. I'm going to take it to inspection during spring break for him... I'm so nice!
  • My car is almost a year old. I have 5700 miles. Not bad. I guess thats what happens when you live within 3 miles from work.
  • Our wedding bands came in. Very pretty.
  • The bridesmaid dresses and the flower girl dress came in.
  • I'm sending our all the invitations next week. I'm making the programs too.
  • SPRING BREAK!
  • We meet Jenelle & Roger's puppy. She's a Weimeran (sp?). Her fur is grey velvet and she has blue eyes. I wanna puppy.
  • I finished the bridesmaids' jewelry.
  • We flew kites last weekend. The kids in the park kept trying to play with them when they fell to the ground.
  • Keith's parents took Katie to the vet. She's 30 lbs. She should be 24. So everything that she gets extra treats, Keith and I continue to count up. Sunday she had pancakes... 31. Thursday she ate pizza crust... 32.

Honeymoon

This week we went to the travel agent to set up our honeymoon. For all the things we want, there is no island that offers all of it. So we basically had to forgive some element. I'm happy to say that we came to a decision to go to Couples Resorts: Tower Isle in Jamaica. Interesting fact about this resort, they have their own private island that you can get to by taking a 2 minute boat ride so that you can tan naked. So this is how our conversation went.

Keith: "Would you do that, go topless?"
Kim: "I don't know."
Keith: "There will be a lot of Europeans there and they are always naked."
Kim: "Well hunny... you can't get too excited."
Keith: "Ill stick it in the sand."

Our 1st invite to the wedding goes to...

The Honorable Barak Obama and Mrs. Obama
The White House
Greetings Office Room 39
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, DC 20500

"If you got engaged during this historic election year and you’re planning to marry after January 20, 2009 (Inauguration Day) did you know you can formally invite our new president to your wedding? If you send an invite to the White House you’ll get a personal response signed by the president and first lady. For all your political power couples out there, this is a cheap and easy keepsake idea that’s sure to make your wedding album or planning scrapbook pop. "

Some of the message boards are saying that this department hasn't been made yet. It would be pretty cool to have it before the wedding. Maybe they can get it done by July?

Updates

We had Valentine's Day on Friday... the 13th. I got Keith a monkey card, of course. And some Twizzlers. I got roses and a box of choc-o-lots, yummy.

Saturday, I got my hair trimed, bought the stupid 2 cent stamps. Keith bought a 10 foot boat with his prize money from school. We went out to eat lunch and then did some shopping.

Sunday I started reading the last book of Twilight. This one is over 700 pages. Basically we chilled in the house. Keith "cleaned" his desk. I swear he has all these little thing a ma gigs that he doesn't really clean, he just plays with the stuff.

Monday Keith got another cold. He is irritable. But he loves being "babied". "Wake me in 30 minutes, wake me for the Bachelor." I think I'm bringing germs home, but I'm just immune to them by now. I still Lysol the kids' desks everyday anyway.

I stayed home bc school was closed. So I worked on the invitations and watched some movies that were still in the shrink wrap. Here's a bad idea... Watch "P.S. I Love You" while working on your wedding invitations. I cried the entire movie!!!

Today Keith is still a bit sick. He is zonked on the couch. He drove around a lot today in the company truck running things here and there. I had an inservice where I presented information on co-teaching with my co-teacher. I was trained for 8 hours on it, and had to regurgitate it to 30 faculty in 30 minutes. We then went to Keith's mom's for pizza, Katie time, and Abby time. Abby hit me and was put in time out. She was stubborn about saying sorry to me... but she got around to giving me a kiss in forgiveness.

Unfortunately, no weird phrases to report. Just the typical "Kim is a monkey."

Oh wait, I did get Abby to pet Keith on the head a bunch of times. That was funny!

Darn Stamps

Grrrrr. Both Keith and my mom had to ask. "Do you think stamps are going to increase?" I said nah. And what do you know... THEY ARE.

Last weekend I bought "wedding stamps" for the response cards. Then my mom sent me an article yesterday saying that stamps are increasing two cents starting May 11. Two problems with that: 1. I did put the 42 cent wedding stamps on the response envelopes already which means I now need to add an ugly two cent stamp to it because our deadline is June 15. And 2. even if I waited til May 11, that would be too late to send out invitations. Grrrr. Sorry everyone, but it won't be as pretty as I had wanted.

Ring Pillow

Originally, I had wanted to make the flower girl basket and the ring bearer pillow. I continued to run into a brick wall with the basket and when I found one that I like I totally gave up on it. But not the ring pillow. So I went to Joanne Fabrics bought a pretty ivory satin and an eggplant sheer material. I must say, I am really proud of myself.

The first is just a quilt like stitch on the satin. The next has clear and purple beading at the intersection of the quilt stitch. Then I added a bow with a flower and a ruffle of the sheer eggplant material. The last is the final product. Please mind the photo layout; they kept moving out of order.

Fitting #1

I'm sooooo happy. I just came back from my first dress fitting and it fits! I don't have to worry about losing weight, just keep what I have on. I ordered the dress in August and the owner said it would come in January. Well, it actually got in before Thanksgiving but they said wait until January for a fitting anyway. So then I got scared that I would gain weight, and it wouldn't fit. Plus, I started having nightmares that the top was some orange material all bunched up and the butt had a huge feather tail sticking up. I told all this to the lady and she was cracking up laughing. But its perfect. No alterations needed. Sweet!

On another note, the bridesmaids dresses were on displayed too. They were not there when we went looking. We ordered the dresses in a deep purple but did not see the whole dress in the purple. At my dress shop, they did have the color there in a whole dress. I am happy that I still like the color.
