All that studying has paid off, literally

Keith is officially a journeyman with the Steam Fitters. He was sworn into the union tonight. During the meeting, an award session acknowledged those who had perfect attendance, best welding and highest grade. Yea for Keith! He had perfect attendance and he had the highest grade (valedictorian of both classes). I'll post pictures later, as well as the site for the fitters.

Now what's next?... that beard. I'll update on that too ;)

Nicknames

So if you don't know, Keith calls me "Monkey". It's the nickname he choose years ago. I think it was derived by the fact I'm way smaller than him and I can hang on him like a monkey. And it has stuck just so he can teach our kids to call me Monkey instead of Mommy. He wants them to cry at school saying "I want my Monkey!".

So today I had a two hour delay and Keith's boss told him to stay home. So he drove me to work. Here is our conversation on the way there.

Keith: "I think I'm going to find my gloves today."
Kim: "THEY'RE IN THE CLOSET. I TOLD YOU BEFORE THEY ARE THERE. They are with your snow pants and Duck Boots."
Keith: "You're a Duck."
Kim: "YOU'RE a Duck."
Keith: "You're a Duck and a Monkey. You're a dunkey."

But it sounded more like donkey. I hope this does not stick.

Mean things we say to each other

OK, so before you read beyond the title, remember Keith and I really do love each other. And that these things we say are jokes. By no means do we really think of each other from what follows.

Keith and I play a dumb game that I totally do not recommend to anyone, for at times your feelings may get hurt. Hence the warning above. With that said, we find them very comical. The game goes like this. In conversation, one person says " (Insert noun) is (insert adjective)." And the other responds "You're (insert same adjective)."

Here is what would be a nice example:
Kim: "That flower is beautiful."
Keith: "You're beautiful."

This is usually not the case.

REAL Example:
Kim: "The blanket is heavy."
Keith: "You're heavy."

Keith: "That would be a burden."
Kim: "You're my burden."

From time to time, I'll try to remember these phrases to share. I really think they are funny.

I don't owe you nothing

Has your mother ever said this: "Hey, I went thru seventeen hours, thirthy two minutes and fifty one seconds of child birth to bring you into this world." Here is our verison of that phrase.

Keith: "Hey, I put a ring on your finger. I can do whatever I like."

Usually this means he can tickle me or just do wacky things like scratch the roof of my mouth. Weirdo.

Save the Date

Save the Date cards were sent out and some were delivered today. So Hi to all our friends and family. Keep checking in on us!

Worse Game Ever

In the winter, Keith loves to shock me. Not like shock me with great presents, or shock me by wearing a shirt and tie, or just plain shock me with some surprise. I mean literally shock me, electrically. The house becomes dry and the humidity is low in the winter creating the best conditions for electric shock. This has gone on for 3 years now. For the past two years, Keith has asked Santa for footie pajamas to gain really large bolts. The worse shock to date, was when I was still sleeping and he scuffed to my side and then barely touched the tip of my nose. I, of course started swinging. We watched Family Guy one week and I felt like Keith was Peter Griffin. Click to find out why.

(Crappy Week x 2) + Updates

So Keith and I both have had bad weeks at work. His are primarily due to co-workers. Keith is just about a real journeyman. He takes his oath this week at the union meeting. So, you would think, as does he, now that he isn't an apprentice, shouldn't he not be treated like an apprentice? Well, that's not the case, at least not with all his co-workers. Unfortunately, it is very frustrating to him, esp. when he can produce better quality products than others. We have been talking about some options, trying to be smart about whatever move he may make.

My week was crappy due to the kids. Ever since winter break they have been nuts. This week, the kids had off Monday and Tuesday. They had known previously that we would dedicate the remaining three days to Midterm Review, since midterms are next week. You would think that since most of these kids earn D's on their tests (when the test is the same exact thing as the review packet) that they would pay attention. Naahhh. Talking is way more fun. But drives me crazy.

Other news to report: Wedding Progress
I went to the printer Monday and dropped off all the documents for the Save the Dates and Invitations. Yesterday I picked up the Save the Dates and mailed them today. I spoke with the printer last night and he was excited after testing the invitation. He said that it is one of the best invites they ever made. So excited! This printer has a Philly Wedding Planner as a regular client who creates many unique and awesome invitations. Keith and I dreamed up the invites ourselves so yay for us!

I dyed my hair back to red brown and I got new glasses (free - teacher insurance is awesome). The kids like the hair (esp since they were telling me they could see the gray) but say the glasses make me look older. Oh well.

Keith is advancing in his computer video game Rainbow 6 Vegas. Definitely not for girls. There's a lot of shooting and killing. It takes a couple of hours to be fully entertained. I, on the other hand, spend that time assembling the favors for the wedding, or do other wedding stuff. He thinks that sentence makes him look like a complete a$$hole. But what do you expect from guys and wedding planning?! haha. Truth be told, he actually has done more than I had expected in the beginning.

Where is your HW?

I wish I was lying.

You can barely see, in the background there is a list of how their notebook is suppose to be set up so that this does not happen. These papers are taking up 3 student work spaces!

Coldest day in 5 years

Setting: Kim & Keith at Palace Diner sitting in a booth. It is flurring outside.

Kim: "It looks like a snowglobe."
Keith: Arm reaching "That's a window hunny." knock knock.

Fitting #1

I'm sooooo happy. I just came back from my first dress fitting and it fits! I don't have to worry about losing weight, just keep what I have on. I ordered the dress in August and the owner said it would come in January. Well, it actually got in before Thanksgiving but they said wait until January for a fitting anyway. So then I got scared that I would gain weight, and it wouldn't fit. Plus, I started having nightmares that the top was some orange material all bunched up and the butt had a huge feather tail sticking up. I told all this to the lady and she was cracking up laughing. But its perfect. No alterations needed. Sweet!

On another note, the bridesmaids dresses were on displayed too. They were not there when we went looking. We ordered the dresses in a deep purple but did not see the whole dress in the purple. At my dress shop, they did have the color there in a whole dress. I am happy that I still like the color.

Keith studys

Keith is busy studying for his last exam for the steamfitters. After tomorrow, and after the union meeting, he will officially be a journyman. "So Keith what are you going to do when your graduate the apprenticeship, Disneyland?" Keith: "I'M GROWING A BEARD!" I'm not kidding. He has been looking forward to growing a beard for 5 years. Right now it is decent, in the fact that there's no patches and the hairs are about 1/4 inch (but it has to go tonight). His hair is starting to grow out too so he has his wolverine look coming back. Just as long he doesn't grow claws I'll be ok.

Katie Update: So the deer did not stay away for long. Before we took Katie home, she started barking crazy. I looked out and there was a 4 point buck and a doe outside. I guess their antlers haven't fallen yet.
Now we are back to k^2. We miss Katie.

While Keith is studying I've been reading Plum Spooky a Stephanie Plum between the numbers novel by Janet Evanovich. I've read every Plum book out there. They are about a bounty hunter in NJ. This one plots with the Jersey Devil. Well I found a big boo boo. Stephanie is outside the Pine Barrens and she's pumping gas. Tis Tis. No one pumps gas in Jersey unless you are a gas station attendent. Jersey is one of two states where you do not pump your own gas. Not only that, but our gas rates are the lowest in the tri-state region. Yeah!

Katie Bird

We are puppy sitting this weekend while Keith's parents are in DC. So for the next few days we are kcubed... get it, k to the third power, k^3.

Kate's farts are smellier than Keith's.

Even so, we still love her <3.>

While Keith and I were first dating, she would do exactly this with him - sit on his lap at the computer. Back then I was still at Rowan and while doing school work we would talk on AIM. Katie would also type to me! (That could be because she was a young puppy) But right now she's being shy.

So yesterday when I got home there were two deer across the pond (hanging out where we took our engagement pics). I had my camera with me and wanted to get some new shots. Well the one did not like me at all. It kept stomping it's foot massively hard into the ground. I read later that this is to let other deer know that there are threats in this area and to stay away. Not sure if it was a buck or not; they usually lose their antlers in the winter.

I guess the stomping worked because Katie usually sees the deer at night when she pees and she did not have a barking fit last night.

Ksquared conversation: birth control

In reference to the patch:

Keith: "Where can you put it?"
Kim: "I think it can go on the butt, belly, or arm. Basically where there's fat."
Keith: "Then you shouldn't have a problem. Ohhhh!"

New to this...

So Keith had mentioned that we may want to start a blog too. "Everyone else is doing it." But of course I know by we he means me; so here goes.

I do not promise this will be thrilling nor do I promise I will be updating regularly.
