As our guests RSVP, I record their attendance in an excel spreadsheet. Yes, I am that organized. And since I am a math teacher, I have many formulas running. Today we had more responses... and there is a trend happening, yet again I fear. Of our 65 guests attending, 12 are for me, the remaining are for Keith. However, the guest list was set up nearly 50/50. I am fearing that my people are not coming (and if your are from out of state, trust me I understand. I talking about the ones who live with in 15 miles). I fear this because it seems like that is what always happens. I have a gathering for both sides, only his side attends. Other gatherings are organized for just my side, it gets cancelled or many do not show. It sucks. How are you to stay a family when the members refuse to see each other. Not to mention, it's a wedding! I guess I'm just tired of trying to be there for others and they are not for me. I know Keith's side favors me so it's not like I'm alone, but it would be nice to be represented.
Big Example: My birthday was this weekend- I spent it with his family. Sure my mom, dad, and brother called (my sister sent a card and texted me and my Aunt Sandie sent a lovely card) but no one else of my side did anything. No one else even tried to make plans. Thanks.

My darlings
I took a sick day Tuesday after getting Keith's cold. I toughed it out Monday but was defeated. Whenever I do not feel well, I draw a stick figure girl on the board and write: Ms. Dreher is sick. =(
When I came in on Wednesday (when my co-workers said I should have stayed home), I found this on my board.
At first I thought, "Awww. Look at that! They even gave me curley red hair."
Then I took a closer look, in the lower left hand corner. Do you see it? Isn't that nice?

Where did that chair come from?
Yesterday Keith's parents hosted Easter dinner for both sides of the family. When you host, extra chairs come out so that extra seating is availible. Keith and I were sitting on a bench when Keith asked, "Where did that chair come from?" I answered saying from his old bedroom. Five minutes later, I asked, "Where did that white wicker chair come from?" You see, when Keith asked, he was referring to the wicker chair, however, I thought he was referring to the chair in front of us, which I do not recall ever seeing before. Therefore, Keith began to answer my question with, "What?! I just asked you that STUPID." He and I are laughing at the fact that were talking about too totally different chairs (and if you know us, you know Keith does not actually think I am stupid or is verbally abusing me, yadda yadda) but it gets better because Keith's Aunt Joyce was standing right in front of us when Keith called me STUPID. Aunt Joyce is a force not to beckon with. When I first met her 3 years ago, she shook my hand and would not let go for 5 minutes! She can be a very scary lady if she wants, so I have heard from family stories. Aunt Joyce stopped in mid-walk, rotated her body to glare at Keith. The whole family is watching and several "Oooos" are circulating the room. I looked up at Keith and saw his eyes wide and frightful as he looked back at Aunt Joyce. After Aunt Joyce encouraged me to hit him a few times she walked away. Keith then confessed that he wasn't sure what she was going to do. He was afraid.

Mean things we say to each other
OK, so before you read beyond the title, remember Keith and I really do love each other. And that these things we say are jokes. By no means do we really think of each other from what follows.
Keith and I play a dumb game that I totally do not recommend to anyone, for at times your feelings may get hurt. Hence the warning above. With that said, we find them very comical. The game goes like this. In conversation, one person says " (Insert noun) is (insert adjective)." And the other responds "You're (insert same adjective)."
Here is what would be a nice example:
Kim: "That flower is beautiful."
Keith: "You're beautiful."
This is usually not the case.
REAL Example:
Kim: "The blanket is heavy."
Keith: "You're heavy."
Keith: "That would be a burden."
Kim: "You're my burden."
From time to time, I'll try to remember these phrases to share. I really think they are funny.
