something jumped up and bit me

Well not really, but it sure felt like it. I really got stung by a phantom bee. Colleen and I were just hanging out and as we walked to the car I felt a pain in my arm. "Oww." I looked around and didn't see or hear a bee anywhere. Colleen looked at me, dead in my tracks and asked if I was stung. "Yes", and then remembering I am allergic, she asked if I had an epi pen. "No." So she took me to Shoprite and I got some Bendryl. By the time we drove 1 mile, my tongue began to swell, and my arm was itching. I felt like I was being dramatic. I was questioning myself "Did you really get stung?" because I could not find a mark or a stinger. Partly due to my outrageous freckles. I got in the car, drank some Cherry Benadryl (yum yum) and within the next mile my tongue started going down. But now my arm was aching. You know how it feels after getting the flu shot, like that, up into my shoulder and fingers. So yep, I really did get stung, but by what bee, I dunno? So I cleaned my arm with antibacterial soap and now have ice on it. But I am soooo tired. Dumb Benadryl. Stupid bee.

We are Married!!!

You know... you may expect this awe feeling after getting married. As if the world changes and you see it in a new light. You may think you become someone different. You may think differently. I'm not sure if it hasn't sunked in yet, but I and not having those feelings. I am still me, and Keith is still him, and we are the same couple we were Our life altering moment happened early in our romantic relationship: the night we had our first kiss. This song by Sugarland basically sums up how that night was for us, which has now turned into our relationship, our marriage, our life, our family. (We danced to it at the weding)

I packed a cooler and a change of clothes
Let's jump in and see how far this goes,
You got my heart and your daddy's boat
We've got all night to make it float

We can sit on the shore
We could just be friends
Or we can jump in

The whole world can change in a minute
Just one kiss can stop it spinning
We could think it through
But I don't want to, if you don't want to

We could keep things just the same
Leave here the way we came
With nothing to lose
But I don't want to, if you don't want to

I got your ring around my neck
and a couple of nights I don't regret
You've got a dream of a degree, and a shirt that smells like me

Yeah we both got dreams
We can chase alone
Or we can make our own

Never waste another day wondering what you threw away
Holding me, holding you
I don't want to, if you don't want to

We can keep things just the same
Leave here the way we came
With nothing to lose
But I don't want to, if your don't want to

But I want to

I want you

Obsessed

For over a week I have been obsessed with the weather. I feel that is only rightfully so. But Mother Nature has been scaring me and threatening to rain on my parade, literally. I was ok with 30% chance rain, but got very weary when it doubled within 6 hours last week. Then, after I had done research in finding a tent and chairs, the chance of rain diminished to 0%. Go figure. Since last week this number has gone up and down so many times you would have thought it was on a roller coaster, geez. Yesterday's numbers did me in. As of 2 pm, it was reported with a 70% chance with rain scheduled every hour for Saturday. By last night, it was report that every hour was sunny. Grrrr. I'm too young to have a heart attack. But I am more pleased with the latest conditions, and pray that it will remain. I know my 6 year old cousin is. Thanks Harris!

luxury bedding

Keith has been in love with the idea of satin sheets. He was convinced of the coolness the fabric would bring, both in status and in temperature. We bought a set in the winter that is gold. Gold as in Egyptian gold, as in California Gold Rush gold, as in liquid mercury but gold. So we put the sheets on Sunday and I instantly did not sleep well. It seems that calloused feet catch on every fiber of satin and then wake you up. So you may be saying, "So what? Put socks on." Trust me I would be saying the same except I hate things on my feet when I sleep. I usually find several pairs of socks and slippers under the covers on wash days. Even as a kid, I had my mom cut the feets off my footie pjs. I hate my feet being hot. Day 2 was not a good sleeping night either. Warning: Bright idea!!! I can sleep fine with our regular sheets, right. What if I try sleeping with my feet inside a regular pillowcase. It would be like a sleeping bag for my feet. Guess what, it worked. Even better... I can stuff one end of my body pillow into the pillowcase and it stays with me all night. I am so smart! Thank goodness we change the sheets tomorrow .

Keith can cook?

Yesterday was our first dinner in the kitchen in over a month. Using the chicken parm leftovers, Keith became a cook. He boiled some big, long macaroni and stuffed it with pieces of the chicken parm, heated it up, put some sauce on it and taaaa- daaa. Yum-o-licious. (We were out of provolone cheese otherwise he would had put that on it too.)

Hit me with your best shot

NOT!

Keith is very willing to smash wedding cake in my face. I, however, am not willing to have cake and icing in my face, which could then get in my hair and worst of all, on my very pretty dress which was a very pretty penny. So I created a compromise. Next year, for our first anniversary, I will let Keith hit me with a slice of cake from our thawed first layer. I will even throw a party so that others can watch. I think this is fair, don't you?

Being Thankful

I've written in the past about our plans for the summer. Duh we're getting married but due to the wedding, and due to the recession, I am teaching summer school. Trust me, teachers count down to the end of the school year too and we enjoy summer. My reasoning for doing it was because there were A Lot of guys out in Keith's local and I was afraid he too would be out of work. At one point the unemployment number was in the 600s for the fitters. We simply could not afford for neither of us to bring in any money. So I sucked it up and went for the summer school. Last week we did not have to worry even a little bit of him getting laid off. His contractor got a big job out of Merck pharmaceuticals for a shut down. He worked 64 man hours last week, not including the 2.5 hour round trip everyday. Crazy. Needless to say we didn't see much of each other nor did he see much of the kitchen. But now we are not only bringing in his paycheck, and my extra pay, but also his overtime. So we are thankful to be able to do this, esp when the money world is so crappy.
